FULLERTON, CALIF. – The OUAZ women's volleyball team needed just one victory to clinch its spot in the 2024 GSAC Tournament, with the opportunity presenting itself on Friday at Hope International. The Spirit took care of business, defeating the Royals in straight sets, and will be heading to the conference postseason for the third straight season.
OUAZ flexed its offensive dominance, attacking at a .289 clip while finishing with 51 kills. The Spirit had 15+ kills in each set, and only had 12 errors on the night.
Lauren Wamsley was the game's best player, finishing with 19 kills while pitching in 11 digs defensively. Her best performance came in the final set where she recorded a majority of her kills to help the Spirit close out and clinch a postseason berth.
Jessica Pearce had another solid game, finishing with nine kills on just 19 attacks. Pearce was error-free in her attacking night, and also had a block of each type.
Four different players finished in double-digit digs lead by Amey Rainaud's 20. Beatriz Paolinetti was able to complete a double-double of her own, getting 14 digs to go along with 21 assists.
The Spirit will look to stay in the race for a top seed in the GSAC Tournament with one more match on Saturday to end its road slate for the 2024 regular season. First serve against Life Pacific is set for 1 p.m.
