San Dimas, CA.- The Spirit finish their final road game of the season with a 3-0 loss to Life Pacific (15-12 OVR, 6-7 GSAC) on Saturday. The loss moves the Spirit to 14-8 and their conference record to 8-4 which keeps OUAZ at third place in the GSAC.
Set 1:
The Spirit started the first set strong, but ultimately lost the back-and-forth affair 28-26. Lauren Wamsley and Katy Shockey led the team with six kills each, followed by Jessica Pearce with three kills. Kaiden Raif also added a service ace in the effort.
Set 2:
The Spirit battled hard but ultimately lost the second set 25-22 to the Warriors. Pearce led the team with seven kills, with Wamsley and Kaitlin Brown having three kills. Amey Rainaud also added a service ace in the effort.
Set 3:
Life Pacific would take the third and final set 25-13 to take a 3-0 match victory. Pearce and Shockey led the Spirit with three kills each. Rainaud added a service ace in the effort.
Top Performers:
The Spirit had some solid performances despite the loss. Pearce was the team's leading scorer with 15.5 points, which included a game high of 13 kills, and three blocking assists. Wamsley also played well with 11 points, 10 kills, 12 digs, and two blocking assists. Shockey put together a solid game as well with 9.5 points, 9 kills and one blocking assist. The Spirit also got contributions from Logan Kuehn (23 assists), Beatriz Paolinetti (10 assists), and Amey Rainuad (14 digs, two service aces).
Up Next:
The Spirit will look to finish the season strong as they head home to play two matches against GSAC opponents. First, they will play Benedictine Mesa (19-5 OVR, 10-2 GSAC) on Thursday, November 7th at 6pm. They will then finish the regular season with a game against longtime rival, Arizona Christian (14-16 OVR, 2-10 GSAC) on Friday, November 8th at 6pm. Friday will be Senior Day for the Spirit, so come out and support your seniors!
