CEDAR CITY, UTAH – The OUAZ women's basketball team played NCAA D1 Southern Utah on Wednesday night, a chance to measure where they are at prior to the home opener. Outside of a tough second quarter, the Spirit battled hard and at times were better than the Thunderbirds.
In the second half, the Spirit tied with the Thunderbirds as the team gained confidence coming out of the break. OUAZ was also able to force 18 turnovers, and were 40% from the field in the final 20 minutes.
The Spirit saw 10 different players record points on Wednesday led by Brianna Humphries. Cierra Kiser and Angel Addleman each pulled in five rebounds, plus Addleman led OUAZ in assists.
The team will now come home and play its home opener against new program Nobel on Tuesday, Nov. 5. Tipoff from inside Faith Arena is set for 3 p.m.
