Spirit Ties Program Record With Eighth Straight Win

Phoenix, Ariz.-- OUAZ Women's Basketball delivered a dominant road performance Tuesday evening, defeating Nelson University (AZ) 92–48 to improve to 14–10 on the season. The Spirit controlled the matchup from the opening tip and never trailed, building an early cushion and steadily extending the lead throughout the contest.

OUAZ jumped out to a 23–8 advantage after the first quarter and matched that output in the second to take a commanding 46–16 lead into halftime. The Spirit continued their strong play in the third quarter, outscoring the Warriors 26–13 to put the game firmly out of reach before closing out the 44-point victory.

Jordan Dillon led the Spirit offensively with 14 points on an efficient 6-of-10 shooting performance off the bench. Tiana Sledge added 12 points while contributing four rebounds and four steals in limited minutes, and Payton Sheridan chipped in 10 points along with four assists. Kristen Valdez recorded nine points and four assists, while Meela Delap added eight points as OUAZ showcased balanced scoring throughout the lineup.

The Spirit dominated inside and in transition, finishing with 56 points in the paint, 23 fast-break points, and 36 points off turnovers while forcing 29 Nelson turnovers. OUAZ also controlled the glass with a 51–35 rebounding advantage and received a major lift from its bench, which accounted for 53 points in the win.

OUAZ will now prepare for its final road game of the regular season, traveling to face Embry-Riddle (AZ) on Thursday, February 19, with tipoff scheduled for 5:00 p.m. (MST). The matchup will be a key GSAC contest as the Spirit continue their push toward postseason positioning.
