SURPRISE, ARIZ. – For the second time in seven days, the OUAZ women's volleyball team matched up with Justice College. Just like last week in Chandler, the Spirit took away a convincing three-set victory to start an important week.
After both teams had efficient first sets attacking, the Spirit continued its trend while stifling the Justice attack. OUAZ held the Lions to a negative attack percentage while racking up 29 kills and a .314 attack percentage.
Jessica Pearce and Kaitlin Brown led the match with nine kills, and a total of ten Spirit players recorded at least on kill. Pearce was particularly efficient, getting nine kills on 12 attacks, and also tied for the match lead in blocks (3.0).
Lauren Wamsley finished with seven kills, all coming in one set while only needing nine attacks to accomplish the feat. In total, eight players attacked better than .270 on the night for the Spirit, and as a team only had ten attack errors.
Kaiden Raif had a double-double, dishing out 17 assists while finishing with 12 digs. Reegan Shoquist led the match with 13 digs, and Tiana Fisher also had a double-digit dig total with 10.
The Spirit will get back into conference play on Thursday, hosting Park Gilbert as the second half of the GSAC season starts. First serve from Faith Arena is set for 6 p.m.
