Brianna Humphries ended up one point shy of tying the OUAZ single-game point mark as she scored 40 points against ACU in a 98-77 loss on Saturday afternoon inside Faith Arena.
Humphries performance marks the most points by an OUAZ player since Kirsten Shinske had 41, coincidentally also against ACU, in 2020.
After scoring 15 points in the first three quarters Humphries dominated the contest down the stretch by hitting nine of ten shots from the field (including a three-pointer) and six of six from the free throw line for 25 points.
She had 40 points with 14 rebounds, four steals, and a pair of assists for the game.
Unfortunately, by the time the third quarter ended, the Spirit were down by 38 points. The loss is the fifth straight for OUAZ.
The Spirit will embark on a two-game Southern California road trip next weekend, taking on Hope International on Thursday and #12 ranked Vanguard on Saturday. They will   return to Faith Arena to face Menlo College (Feb. 1) and Jessup University (Feb. 3). Both of those schools coming to Surprise are receiving votes in the National poll.  Get your tickets now on the Hometown Ticket App or by clicking here.
