Spirit resume season with top performances

OUAZ's bowling teams resumed their inaugural season by participating in tournaments over the weekend a few miles from the Surprise campus.

On Saturday, during the Devil's Duel, hosted by Arizona State University, OUAZ's Garrett Plum rolled a 215.8 average across five games to finish eighth in a field of 80 bowlers. Mike Wallace rolled a 139.2 average and placed 52nd.

On the women's side, Maddisen Rook led the Spirit effort throwing a 177.8 average to finish second in a field of 11.  New team member Briella Bullard finished fourth with a 144.7 average while Emma Hill, dealing with a finger injury, rolled a 123 average to place seventh.

Sunday morning the teams were back at the lanes for the Antelope Shootout hosted by Grand Canyon University.

Over the course of four games, Plum had an impressive 201 average placing him in the Top 10 again.  Wallace had a tough time finding the line to the pocket but fought to a 137 average and a finish back in the pack.

For the women, Rook had a 170.8 average to lead the Spirit with a third-place finish.  Bullard found the line in the second half of the day and raised her average to 146.5.  Hill improved every game and ended with a 131 score for a 119.3 average.

OUAZ will be back in action next when it travels to Las Vegas to compete in the Sin City Open being hosted by UNLV at the end of the month.
