It was a close one against the OUAZ Spirit and The Master's University, but the Lady Mustangs came out with a 75-68 victory inside Faith Arena on Thursday night.
 
Brianna Humphries had the best night of the season with 20 points in 33 minutes of action.
 
The Spirit (10-3, 0-3 GSAC) fell behind 5-2 just three minutes into the game.  However, it was then that the team said, "Hold on, we can play better than this."  Over the final seven minutes of the quarter, they went on a 22-13 run to take a six-point lead after ten minutes.
 
Twice in the first two minutes of the second quarter, the Spirit got out to a six-point lead but never trailed after that initial 5-2 deficit.  At the intermission, the Spirit were up four, 36-32.
 
In the third quarter, OUAZ grew the lead to nine points at 44-35 with 6:15 to go in the quarter.  The Mustangs (14-2, 2-1 GSAC) have 14 wins because they can battle.  By the time the third quarter was done, they were even at 50-all.
 
With 6:09 left in the game, Tiana Sledge (16 points) hit a layup and gave the Spirit a four-point lead at 59-55.  Just 50 seconds later, the score was tied once again at 61-all with five minutes left in the game.  TMU, who is receiving votes in the National NAIA poll, took the lead for good at 66-64 with four minutes to go in the game.  The Mustangs closed it out with a 14-7 run.
 
Life Pacific comes into Faith Arena on a five-game losing streak on Saturday after dropping a 78-64 decision to Arizona Christian on Thursday.  All-Time, the Spirit has a winning record of 6-2 against the Warriors.
