OUAZ double up Argos

Tom Cohen with the game winner in the 74th minute

Box Score The OUAZ Spirit started out the 2023 season on the correct foot as they took down the Argos of the University of Providence from Great Falls, Montana by a 2-1 scoreline.

Things got rolling quickly in the first half as Peyton Montiel-Villegas received a pass from Jamaine Turner in the box and put it past the Argo keeper in the lower right corner for a 1-0 score.

Ten minutes later, the Argo's Geovanni Lugo scored his first goal of the season on a beautiful strike from 25 yards out to the top left corner, for a goal that you must give credit to him for putting it in the right spot.

That is how the first half would end.  The Spirit would put 19 shots (seven on target).

It was a tight second half as both teams would play in the middle of the field for large chunks of time.

However, with just about 17 minutes left, 2021 All-American Tom Cohen (1st goal) would get the assists from Montiel-Villegas along with Andrew Guidice and cross it across the goalmouth and in for what would end up being the game-winner.

The Spirit travel to Mesa to take on Benedictine University on Thursday.  First touch will be at 7:30 p.m.  That will be the only road match of the first seven matches.
