James Hamill Named as Assistant Athletic Director for Communications

Surprise, Ariz. – Kevin Steele, Director of Athletics at Ottawa University Arizona (OUAZ), is pleased to announce the official promotion of James Hamill to Assistant Athletic Director for Communications. Hamill has previously served in this capacity on an interim basis, and his ongoing contributions have proven invaluable to the department.

Hamill has been a key member of the OUAZ Athletics Department for several years, most recently serving as the Sports Information Director. In this role, he played a pivotal part in managing schedules, statistics, live streaming, and game day operations. His expertise and dedication during his interim tenure have been integral to enhancing the department's athletic communications and media presence.

"After a thorough and comprehensive search, I'm excited to formally announce the promotion of James Hamill to Assistant Athletic Director for Communications," said Steele. "James has quickly proven himself as an up-and-coming professional who has earned his place as a leader in our athletic communications. His dedication and leadership make him the perfect fit for this role."

A proud graduate of OUAZ, Hamill holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, graduating Summa Cum Laude in 2024. During his time at OUAZ, he was also a member of the OUAZ Baseball team. Hamill's diverse experience within the department includes roles as Video Coordinator and Baseball Coach, further demonstrating his versatility and leadership within the OUAZ Athletics program.

Hamill's passion for OUAZ Athletics and its student-athletes has been evident throughout his tenure. In his new role, he is eager to continue telling the stories of the university's teams and athletes, aiming to build on the strong foundation of the department's athletic communications and contribute to the ongoing success of the program.
