Surprise, AZ – OUAZ Athletic Director Kevin Steele has announced the appointment of Killjan Anderson (Pronounced kill-ee-un) as the new Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance. A decorated military veteran and experienced executive leader, Anderson brings a wealth of knowledge in organizational oversight, risk management, and leadership development to the Spirit athletic department.
Anderson, a former Command Chief Master Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force, has an extensive background in high-stakes environments, serving in key leadership roles across government, higher education, and elite athletics. His expertise includes compliance, strategic planning, and operational management, making him an invaluable addition to OUAZ's commitment to integrity and excellence in collegiate athletics.
Most recently, Anderson served as the Executive Director of the Golden Heart Fund, where he successfully expanded programming for San Francisco 49ers alumni, led major fundraising initiatives, and established critical partnerships. Prior to that, he played a pivotal role in launching the USA Basketball Foundation and held executive leadership positions at the Pat Tillman Foundation.

Anderson holds an MBA from the University of Notre Dame and a Bachelor of Science in Management from the University of Maryland University College. His distinguished career in both the military and nonprofit sectors has earned him national recognition for his ability to foster collaboration, implement strategic initiatives, and uphold the highest standards of governance and compliance.
In his new role at OUAZ, Anderson will oversee all compliance-related matters within the athletic department, ensuring adherence to NAIA regulations and university policies while supporting student-athletes in their academic and athletic pursuits.
