Spirit Split Doubleheader With The Master's

Surprise, Arizona - OUAZ baseball (9-5-1) split today's doubleheader with The Master's (14-6). The Spirit took game one by the score of 13-9 but dropped the second contest 7-2 in favor of the Mustangs.

OUAZ falls to 5-3-1 in conference play while the Master's move to 2-4 in GSAC play.

GAME ONE OVERVIEW

The first game included a sporadic amount of runs scored from the Spirit, with seven separate OUAZ hitters recording multiple hits including five home runs in game one.

Nathan Tarver started things off in the 1st with a solo shot to put Ottawa Arizona up 1-0 early. The Master's would answer back with a five-run third inning, putting them up four. The Spirit would strike back in the following top half inning, thanks to a 3-run homer from Sergio Alfaro

OUAZ was finally able to tie the game up in the seventh, when Tarver slapped an RBI single to right-field, bringing home Daniel Partida which then led to Rene Brockman's first round tripper of the season to tie the game at seven.

The guys in orange would pour it on from there, tallying their last six runs of the ballgame in the final two innings.

They took the lead on back-to-back homers from Gabriel DeJesus on a 2-run shot, followed up by a Nicholas Lustig home run to left which would eventually become the winning run.

Creighton Silvian threw the final 2+ innings for the Spirit and picked up the win.

GAME TWO OVERVIEW

Not much was working for OUAZ in game two of the doubleheader. Luke Tedtrick took the mound and arguably had his worst performance of the year for the usually dominant lefty.

Alfaro belted a 2-run homer in the fourth inning, his second on the day, but that was the Spirit lineup could muster for this matchup.
