OUAZ Snaps Losing Streak, Take Down Embry-Riddle

Surprise, Arizona - OUAZ Baseball (12-17-1) snapped their seven-game losing streak Tuesday evening with a big win over Embry-Riddle.

They put up 17 runs of offense on 17 hits. The Spirit also racked up a season-high in walks in a single game, with nine.

Jaimen Albizu and Bradley Wilkison were the stars in the Spirit lineup. The duo each tallied four hits while Albizu knocked in four runs himself, including a solo shot in 5th inning.

Nathan Tarver logged four RBI's, despite having one hit on the day. He had a two-RBI single in the first to get things going for the Spirit. Tarver knocked in the other two runs on sac-fly and fielder's choice later in the contest.

The usual suspects at first base for OUAZ, Joey Winters and Justin Brodt continue to see the ball well at the plate. Winters contributed in every way with three runs, two RBI's, and two drawn walks. Brodt blasted his third homer of the year in the 2nd inning, extending his teams lead to seven.

Outfielder Jacob Griffin was perfect at the dish, going 3-3 with two runs batted in as well.

Randall Hutson started the mid-week for OUAZ, giving up three earned in two plus innings of work.

Five other Spirit pitchers would go on to finish the game and surrender just another two runs. It was the lefty Luke Tedrick who earned the win, after tossing a scoreless fourth inning, striking out two along the way.

OUAZ is back in action on Friday, when they play their first home game in over a month, against Vanguard.
