Atherton, Calif. - Looking to get back on the winning side, the OUAZ women's basketball team traveled to Menlo College on Thursday night but fell 84-53. While the loss was the 14th straight for the Spirit, they had one of their best shooting nights (34.6%) since ringing in 2023.  At the end of the night, the difference was 25 OUAZ turnovers that resulted in 32 Menlo points.

Menlo jumped out to a 9-2 lead before a Tiana Sledge layup gave the Spirit it's first and only lead of the night (12-11) with 3:48 to go in the first period. The Oaks used a 12-1 run the rest of the way to take back the lead that they would never give up.

The Spirit, now 5-19 overall and 1-15 in conference play, were led by the sensational freshman Sledge, who posted her 10th double-double of the season with 17 points and 13 rebounds.  Marlee Johnson also had 10 points and five rebounds for OUAZ.

The final road game of the year for the Spirit takes place at Jessup University on Saturday afternoon (1 pm MST). The game can be viewed via live stream through the OUAZ website or by downloading the OUAZ app.
