SURPRISE, Ariz - The OUAZ women's basketball team did all it could before the red-hot Vanguard Lions won easily 83-27. It was seventh straight win for VU, while the loss was the 13th in a row for OUAZ. While the final score appears lopsided, the Spirit were down only five with 3:42 to play in the opening period. Then, a 9-0 run to end the first and a 26-0 run to start the second, put contest out of reach. OUAZ scored just one basket in the second 10 minutes and trailed 44-11 at halftime.

The Spirit, now 5-18 overall and 1-14 in conference action, were led in scoring by Tatiana Gary who recorded nearly half the team points (11).

OUAZ makes its final regular season road trip this week with games at Menlo (Feb. 9 @6:30pm MST) and Jessup University (Feb. 11 @1pm MST). About a month ago, both teams came to Surprise and beat OUAZ. Jessup won 76-49 and Menlo did the same, 77-49.
