Spirit Pick Up First Match Win Over Western New Mexico

Box Score Surprise, Ariz. – The Ottawa Arizona Men's Tennis team had a thrilling 4-3 win over Western New Mexico Friday afternoon. They move to 1-1 on the season.
 
The Spirit took an early 1-0 set lead thanks to a doubles win. Goor Adiv and Gianmarce Pitotti won their match 7-6, while Saul Bautista and Viktor Setzer brought home the second point for OUAZ with a 6-4 set win.
 
The singles winners for the Spirit were Gianmarce Pitotti (6-4, 6-3) Noah Koereessy (1-6, 6-4, 6-4) and Saul Bautista who won his match due to a forfeit.

Coach Sam Murphy had some words about how his guys performed this afternoon. "The boys came out with a lot of energy from start to finish and it was really special to get our first win of the season against a tough Division 2 opponent. Singles has been a big focus for us over the past week of practice and I think the work is definitely paying off. I'm excited to see how good we can become as the season progresses."

 The team will be back in action tomorrow morning at 11 am MST against Colorado Mesa.
