Behind a pair of goals by Harlee Kuntz, the OUAZ Spirit double up the Life Pacific University Warriors 4-2 on Thursday, Oct. 19th in San Dimas, California. The win sets up a pivotal match on Saturday against The Master's University.
Kuntz scored her second goal of the season for the Spirit (11-2, 4-1 GSAC) in the fourth minute of the game. Haley Chitwood picked up the assist as she crossed the ball into the box allowing Kuntz an open netter.
LPU (1-10, 0-5 GSAC) tied the match up in the ninth minute, and that is how the match stood at halftime.
Anabella Bara scored in the 54th minute off an assist from Kuntz for her fifth goal of the season. The Warriors would score to tie the match five minutes later.
Graduate Student Haley Chitwood scored her first goal of the season (and fifth goal of her career) to give the Spirit the lead with less than six minutes to go. Kuntz scored her second of the match two minutes later to close out the scoring.
OUAZ was the more aggressive team on offense taking 21 shots, 14 on goal. OUAZ's aggressiveness was never more apparent than in the corner kicks stat. The Spirit were awarded 13 corners, while LPU had none.
The team will now shift their attention to the match on Saturday against The Master's University (8-2-2, 4-0-1 GSAC) for a showdown of the top two teams in the GSAC.
