It didn't take long for the 24th-ranked OUAZ Spirit to take complete control against Arkansas Baptist College on Spirit Field Saturday evening. Within the first 15 minutes, the Spirit led 28-0, and eventually, posted a record-setting 83-0 decision.
On the night, the Spirit (5-1 overall and 4-1 Sooner Athletic Conference) set new school standards for points in a game and conference game (83), largest victory margin (83) and most points in the third quarter (38). They also tied the school mark for fewest points allowed (0). The record book is still being examined for other marks surpassed.
The OUAZ offense scored a touchdown on its first six possessions of the night while the defense held Arkansas Baptist (1-6 overall and 1-4 SAC) to five punts and an interception during the same time. The shutout by the Spirit marked the third ever in school history.
"It was a good win coming off an open week. We got the chance to play a lot of guys, especially some of our new guys and freshmen who have t played much so far," said Spirit Head Coach
Mike Nesbitt. "Tonight was fun and pretty clean for the most part. We still have somethings to clean up, like penalties, but anytime the defense pitches a shutout, you can't complain much. Overall an exciting night for the guys."

Da'Vicious Wilson topped the statistical charts. Giron completing 18 of 21 passes for 282 yards and four touchdowns while moving up to third nationally (NAIA) for passing efficiency (177.3). He is also ninth in yards per game (267.7) and tied for 12th in TD's (16).
Wilmore rambled for a career-best 210 yards on 18 carries and four touchdowns, while Wilson hauled in four catches for 101 yards and three TD's.
Next up for the Spirit is a date with undefeated Louisiana Christian (7-0 overall; 6-0 SAC) on Saturday at 7 pmon Spirit Field. The game will feature two teams scoring over 45 points a game, including OUAZ which tops the nation with a 52.2 average.
