Cold Fourth Extends Skid to Five

SAN DIMAS, Calif. – The OUAZ women's basketball team went cold in the fourth quarter and allowed Life Pacific to rally for a 69-66 win in overtime on Saturday afternoon at Mehl Court.

OUAZ (5-10, 1-6 GSAC) led by 17 late in the third quarter and entered the fourth up 51-37 by shooting 55 percent. The Spirit finished the day 5 of 20 from the field as Life Pacific (5-12, 1-6) came back to win with a 32-15 scoring advantage over the final quarter and overtime.

Tiana Sledge gave the Spirit 14 points and 10 rebounds for her eighth double-double of the season. That is the second-most in a season in program history. Sledge went 7 of 10 from the floor, adding an assist, steal, and blocked shot.

The late shooting swoon lowered the Spirit to 44.8 percent shooting in the game. They held Life Pacific to 36.8 percent, but the Warriors had 17 offensive rebounds and scored 22 points from the Spirit's 22 turnovers.

OUAZ also got 11 points off the bench from Melissa Simmons. Tatiana Gary added nine points and four assists.

Rachel Spinosa scored 23 points to lead LPU.

The Spirit will return home for four straight games starting Thursday against William Jessup.
