FULLERTON, Calif – The OUAZ women's basketball team hit the first shot of the night at Hope International before missing its next seven in an opening quarter in which the home team jumped out to a 32-12 lead. From there, the Spirit women basically matched Hope on the scoreboard but lost 75-47. It marks the 10
th straight loss of the year for OUAZ which fell to 5-15 overall and 1-11 in the GSAC.
The Spirit, who were without leading scorer
Tiana Sledge, were led in scoring by sophomore guard
Tatiana Gary, who finished with 12 points and six rebounds. Guard
Marlee Johnson added 10 points and guard
Cierra Kiser posted eight points with eight rebounds on the night.
Hope International improves to 16-5 overall and 9-3 in GSAC after five players reached double figures in scoring, including Shailissa Jarrett who led the way with 14 points on five of eight shots from the floor.
Next up for the Spirit is a date with San Diego Christian College which fell to Arizona Christian 81-60 on Thursday night. The loss drops SDCC to 5-16 overall and 1-11 in the GSAC.
