Freshmen Lead Spirit to Sweep of Hawks

SURPRISE, Ariz. – Behind a combined 21 kills from freshmen Rylie Henige and Payton Treadwell, the OUAZ women's volleyball team picked a 3-0 sweep over San Diego Christian on Saturday afternoon at Faith Arena.

The 25-22, 25-18, 25-13 win evened the OUAZ record at 7-7 overall and 3-3 in GSAC matches.

Henige led the Spirit with 12 kills on .345 hitting. The total is her fourth double-digit kill total of the season, with three of those coming in the past four matches. She also recorded five digs and three blocks in the win.

Treadwell totaled her nine kills with a .190 attack percentage. Livia De Pra added seven kills, 13 digs, and four service aces.

As a team, OUAZ tallied 35 kills on .204 hitting. They held San Diego Christian (1-8, 0-5 GSAC) to a .092 attack percentage and 32 kills. The Spirit forced the Hawks to negative hitting in the third set and, in the match, had 69 digs and seven blocks.

Kenzie Kuxhaus had a team-high 17 digs, and Logan Kuehn went for a double-double of 29 assists and 14 digs.

The Spirit will close its five-match homestand on Monday when they host West Coast Baptist in a non-conference match at 6 p.m.
