OUAZ Falls to No. 21 Lions in Four

SURPRISE, Ariz. – The OUAZ women's volleyball team dropped a tightly contested match with No. 21 Vanguard in four sets on Friday night in Faith Arena.

OUAZ (6-7, 2-3 GSAC) won the first set before Vanguard (14-5, 4-1) came to win the next three sets and earn the 23-25, 25-16, 25-22, 25-21 victory. The match featured 32 ties and 23 lead changes.

Livia De Pra led the Spirit with 17 kills with a .250 attack percentage. Rylie Henige added nine kills, and Payton Treadwell had seven as OUAZ totaled 46 kills as a team. The Spirit hit .144 overall but never higher than .156 in any set.

Vanguard would record 49 kills on .143 hitting despite 11 blocks and 61 digs from the Spirit. Kenzie Kuxhaus had 15 digs to lead the Spirit, with Gloria Moye posting eight blocks and Jessica Pearce finishing with seven.

The visiting Lions created enough separation with a 12-4 edge in service aces and only six serving errors compared to the 11 of the Spirit.

Morgan Cole led the Lions with 17 kills on .316 hitting.

The Spirit is back in Faith Arena on Saturday when they host San Diego Christian at 1 p.m.
