Spirit Secure Sweep of Warriors

SURPRISE, Ariz. – The home court advantage of Faith Arena is GSAC play continued for the OUAZ women's volleyball team on Saturday as the Spirit secured a 3-0 sweep of Westmont.

The 25-17, 25-16, 25-22 victory was the 13th straight home win in conference matches dating back to the 2020 season, and it snapped Westmont's (8-3, 2-1) six-match winning streak.

Saturday saw the Spirit make Westmont earn everything they got by holding the Warriors to 27 kills and .051 hitting. Both of those are season lows for the visiting side. The Spirit countered with 36 kills and a .161 attack percentage.

OUAZ used 56 digs and five blocks to slow the Warrior's attack. They also held an 8-3 edge in service aces.

Rylie Henige led the Spirit with 10 kills, with Livia De Pra and Payton Treadwell adding eight apiece. Kenzie Kuxhaus tallied 16 digs and two aces, with Logan Kuehn contributing 28 assists, seven digs, and two aces. Jessica Pearce finished with five blocks.

Westmont got seven kills from Sarah Krueger.

OUAZ remains at home next weekend and hosts No. 21 Vanguard at 6 p.m.
