Spirit Turn Things Around to Defeat Mustangs in Four

SURPRISE, Ariz. – It was a tough start for the OUAZ women's volleyball team on Friday night at Faith Arena, but the Spirit turned this around to secure a 3-1 win over The Master's to open a five-match homestand.

OUAZ (5-6, 1-2 GSAC) earned the 14-25, 25-14, 25-22, 29-27 win with one of their better offensive effort of the season. After committing 11 hitting errors and hitting negative in the first set, the Spirit won the final three sets by committing just 12 errors the rest of the match. The turnaround started with 14 kills on .440 hitting in the second set and then ended with them totaling 19 kills to clinch the match.

In the end, OUAZ finished with 55 kills and .222 hitting. They had five players record at least five kills, with Livia De Pra leading the way with 17. Rylie Henige added 15, with Payton Treadwell and Jessica Pearce posting eight and seven, respectively.

De Pra also had 12 digs for her seventh double-double of the season while leading the Spirit with three service aces. Kenzie Kuxhaus had 14 digs and two aces, and Logan Kuehn had a double-double with 38 assists and 10 digs.

The Spirit held The Master's (4-4, 0-2) to 48 kills and .160 hitting. OUAZ tallied 63 digs and 11 blocks in the win.

Ruby Duncan led the Mustangs with 15 kills, and Breanna Brooks had eight blocks.

OUAZ returns to action on Saturday at noon when they host Westmont.
