2022 Men's Soccer Notes -- Week 5

The 13th-ranked OUAZ men's soccer team returns to Spirit Field on Saturday night to host Arizona Christian in a non-conference game. First touch is scheduled for 7 p.m., with tickets available at OUAZSpirit.com/tickets.

OUAZ brings a 4-1-1 record into the game on Saturday after a 2-2 draw at Park Gilbert last week. That result snapped a two-game winning streak for the Spirit. They have two wins in two games at Spirit Field this season.

The Spirit have scored 13 goals to rank 51st in the NAIA, carrying an average of 2.17 goals per game. They have scored in five of the six games played with multpile goals four times. OUAZ attempts 14.33 shots per game, with 52.3 percent of those on goal.

The opposition is scoring 1.17 goals per game, but the Spirit has allowed six goals in the past two games after allowing just one with three shutouts in the season's first four games. OUAZ opponents attempt 9.50 shots per game, and the keepers have a .940 save percentage.

Tinashe Simbo has four goals to lead the team and tie for the most goals in the GSAC. He has scored in each of the past two games. Simbo has added a pair of assists, and his 10 points rank second in the conference.

Titouan Desveaux is fourth in the GSAC with three goals and is tied for sixth in the NAIA with two game-winners. He ranks fifth in the conference with seven points.

Tom Cohen leads the team and sits second in the league with 22 shots and nine shots on goal. Cohen has scored one goal and is tied for the team lead with two assists.

Jamaine Turner has two goals and two assists while taking seven shots with six on goal.

Adam Salama has recorded a pair of wins and has a 0.72 GAA with one shutout. Salama has made seven saves with a .778 save percentage.

Marcos Papakostas also has two wins and a shutout while maintaining a 1.66 GAA. He has totaled 11 saves, and a .688 save percentage.
