Winning Streak at Four after 3-1 Win at Park Gilbert

MESA, Ariz. – The winning ways of the OUAZ women's soccer team continued on Tuesday with a 3-1 win over Park Gilbert at Bell Bank Park. OUAZ (5-1) has now won four straight games to close the month.

Haley Howard opened the scoring on Tuesday with her second goal of the season in the 27th minute. Heather Walker set up Howard for the scoring chance.

With the lead still 1-0 early in the second half, Walker was turned away on a penalty kick opportunity. Then, in the 68th minute, the Spirit found the game level at 1-1 as Park Gilbert (1-2-1) got a goal from Kaitlyn Aeppli.

The continued pressure by OUAZ would lead to a Spirit goal from Cassidi Calzaretta in the 78th minute. The second game-winning goal of the season for Calzaretta was started by Saipress Jones. Calzaretta then assisted on a goal from Lexy Hayes in the 86th minute that capped the scoring.

OUAZ took 23 shots with 14 on goal during the 90 minutes of action. They limited the Buccaneers to nine shots while holding an 8-5 edge in corner kicks.

Carli Calzaretta would secure her third win of the season with a season-high seven saves.

The Spirit will return to action on Friday when they face Benedictine Mesa at Eagles Park in Mesa at 7 p.m.
