OUAZ Continues Home Dominance with 3-1 Win Over Battlin’ Bears

SURPRISE, Ariz. – The advantage that is Spirit Field for the OUAZ women's soccer team was on full display in a 3-1 win over Rocky Mountain College on Saturday evening.

Now unbeaten in 16 straight home games dating back to the 2018 season, OUAZ (4-1) took the lead in the fourth minute on Saturday when Cassidi Calzaretta shot from the right of the penalty box into the side of the goal for her second goal of the season.

Alyce Hancock made it 2-0 in the 38th minute after Amanda Witkowski used a quick restart to find Hancock all alone from 12 yards out following a handball on the Rocky Mountain (0-1) keeper for picking up a ball outside the penalty area.

OUAZ scored again just 76 seconds later when Anabella Bara scored her second of the season after being set up by Lexy Hayes. It was the second straight game the Spirit scored consecutive goals within 90 seconds.

Rocky's Brynn Klinefelter gave the Battlin' Bears their only goal in the 57th minute when she collected a deflected shot from Maja Albertsen and fired it past the OUAZ keeper.

The Spirit ended the night with six of its eight shots on goal and holding a 6-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Bara had a team-best three shots on goal. Abby Sahagun nearly gave the Spirit a fourth goal when her attempt from 30 yards out hit the crossbar in the 65th minute.
