OUAZ Concedes Two Second Half Goals in Loss to Trolls

COSTA MESA, Calif. – The OUAZ women's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision to Trinity Christian on Saturday afternoon at the Vanguard Soccer Complex.

OUAZ (1-1) had taken a 1-0 lead in the 58th minute when Heather Walker carried the ball past a lunging keeper and lifted a shot into the goal for the advantage. Cassidi Calzaretta started the run with a through ball after creating a turnover in the midfield.

Trinity Christian (1-0) responded quickly with the equalizer in the 60th minute on a strike by Litzy Corona. Claire Darby then found the winner for the Trolls in the 83rd minute on a shot from 25 yards out.

Each team attempted 11 shots in the game, with the Spirit putting five of their chances on goal. They only had two on goal in the second half compared to the four by TCC. OUAZ did hold a 7-4 edge in corner kicks.

Walker, Calzaretta, and Saipress Jones had two shots apiece to lead the Spirit.

Akeala Patterson suffered the loss in goal despite making four saves.

The Spirit returns to Arizona, where they will play three games next week. The first is a trip to Prescott to face Embry-Riddle on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
