Spirit Into Title Match with 3-1 Win Over Oaks

COSTA MESA, Calif. – The No. 3 OUAZ men's volleyball team advanced to the GSAC Men's Volleyball Tournament championship match with a 3-1 win over No. 5 Menlo on Friday evening at The Pit.

OUAZ (23-3) earned its way to the title match for a second consecutive season with a 25-13, 28-26, 23-25, 25-21 win.

The Spirit got off to a fast start with 12 kills and a .524 attack percentage in the first set. They followed that with 18 kills on .378 hitting in the second set for a 2-0 lead. After Menlo (16-7) slowed the OUAZ attack to 10 kills in the third set, the Spirit closed out the win with 16 kills in the fourth.

In the end, OUAZ had a 56-45 edge in kills, and they hit .328 with just 15 hitting errors. Four players reached double figures, with Emery Outin leading the way with 12. Quaid King added 11, while Jordan Moses and Colin Donisthorpe had 10 apiece.

The Spirit forced the Oaks into 26 hitting errors and a .154 attack percentage with 13 blocks and 43 digs. Donisthorpe added to this GSAC lead with nine blocks to lead all players. Tatum Gray had 11 digs for his eighth match with 10-plus digs.

OUAZ also won the service game with eight service aces, led by three from Outin. Moses and Jonathan Igo added two each, with Igo clinching the win with an ace.

Konrad Stoklosinski led Menlo with 18 kills.

The Spirit will face No. 11 The Master's in the GSAC Championship Match on Saturday at 7 p.m.
