Spirit Secure GSAC Title with 3-1 Win

SURPRISE, Ariz. – The third-ranked OUAZ men's volleyball team clinched the GSAC regular season title with its 3-1 win over No. 11 The Master's on Friday night in Faith Arena.

OUAZ (22-3, 9-1 GSAC) completed its season sweep of The Master's with the 25-14, 25-22, 21-25, 25-21 victory. They earned at least a share of the conference regular season title, and they will win it outright if Vanguard falls at Menlo on Saturday afternoon.

Riding the momentum of the Senior Night celebration that took place pregame, everything went right for the Spirit in a first set in which they hit .611 with 13 kills while holding the Mustangs to only six kills. Things settled in the rest of the match, but OUAZ ended with a 50-37 edge in kills and hitting .333 overall.

In possibly the final home match of his career, Colin Donisthorpe went off for a career-high 17 kills on .520 hitting. The total is three more than his previous best, and it was the fifth time this season he reached double-digits. The nation's leading blocker picked up another four as well.

Emery Outin added 14 kills while hitting .500, with Quaid King hitting .412 with nine kills and three aces.

The Spirit totaled nine aces as a team, with Jordan Moses also posting three. Conner Duyck added two aces to become the OUAZ all-time leader with 58 in his career.

OUAZ also used 11.5 blocks and 27 digs to hold TMU to a .170 attack percentage. Duyck matched Donisthorpe with four blocks, with King adding three. Tatum Gray led the Spirit with nine digs.

The Spirit now waits for the conference to complete its regular season on Saturday. If Vanguard wins at Menlo, the Lions will host the GSAC Tournament. If Menlo wins, the tournament will be played at Faith Arena.
