Busy Spirit Sweep Buccaneers

SURPRISE, Ariz. – Playing its sixth match since last Friday, the ninth-ranked OUAZ men's volleyball team took care of Park Gilbert in three sets on Wednesday evening at Faith Arena.

With its 25-13, 25-16, 25-21 victory, OUAZ (9-1) has now won nine straight home matches dating back to the 2020 season.

The Spirit dominated both sides of the net against Park Gilbert (0-2) as they finished with a 38-24 advantage in kills. OUAZ hit .484 – their seventh match this season above .300 – with just seven hitting errors. That percentage was bolstered by the team hitting .571 in each of the first two sets.

OUAZ used 11 blocks to slow the Buccaneers offense to .027 hitting with a negative-.192 in the first set. Park had just 13 kills in the first two sets combined. The Spirit added five service aces and 18 digs.

Quaid King posted a match-high nine kills to hit .471. Jordan Moses added eight kills and six blocks. In total, nine different Spirit players had at least two kills.

Having gotten through a busy slate to start the season, the Spirit now has a week off before playing at Arizona Christian on February 16 to open Golden State Athletic Conference play.
