OUAZ Sneaks by Mustangs

GLENDALE, Ariz. – For the second time in three outings this season, the OUAZ men's tennis team snuck out a 4-3 win. On Saturday, that came over Western New Mexico at the Paseo Tennis Center.

Using wins in the No. 1 doubles and No. 3 doubles, OUAZ (3-0) scored the day's first point. Austin Todd and Michael Loyd would clinch the points with a 7-5 win in the No. 1 match.

Western New Mexico (2-2) would score the first two points of singles actions with a win at No. 1 and No. 3. Loyd would even the dual at 2-2 with his 6-3, 6-3 win in the No. 5 match, and then Gianmarco Pitotti gave OUAZ the lead back with a 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 win in the No. 6 match.

The Mustangs would win the No. 4 match to even the score at 3-3, with Liam Spiers eventually securing the Spirit win with a 4-6, 6-4, 7-5 decision in the No. 2 match.

Off to a 3-0 start for the second straight season, OUAZ now heads to Florida, where they will play three duals starting at No. 24 St. Thomas on Thursday.
