2022-23 Women's Basketball Notes -- Week 5

THE WEEK AHEAD
The OUAZ women's basketball season rolls on this week with a trip to Glendale to face Arizona Christian on Thursday. The lone game of the week will tipoff at 5:30 p.m. from the ACU Events Center.

The action will be available online through the OUAZ Digital Network at OUAZSpirit.com/watch. The games will also be broadcast on the GSAC Sports Network app on Amazon Fire, Apple TV, and Roku devices.

ABOUT THE SPIRIT
OUAZ heads across town with a 5-6 overall record after splitting its two games last week. The Spirit is 1-3 in GSAC games and is currently tied for seventh. They are 1-4 on the road.

OUAZ averages 63.6 points per game while shooting 35.8 percent from the field. They lead the conference in free throws made (15.0) and attempted per game (22.0) and rank third by making 68.2 percent of those attempts.

The opposition is scoring 70.4 points per game on 39.8 percent shooting. The Spirit force 21.1 turnovers per game and averages 11.2 steals and 2.7 blocks per contest.

OUAZ averages 43.5 rebounds per game while ranking third in the GSAC and 20th in the NAIA by snagging 15.9 offensive rebounds per game. They add 13.1 assists per outing.

70 THE NUMBER
In the program's history, OUAZ holds a 31-7 record when scoring at least 70 points in a game. That includes a 15-1 mark when scoring 80 points in a game, including 12 straight victories. This season, the Spirit is 3-0 when reaching the 70-point mark.

FAST START HELPFUL
Leading at halftime has been a deciding factor for the Spirit, where they are 36-5 all-time when leading at intermission. In contrast, they are 6-69 when trailing at the break.

SPIRIT LEADERS
Tiana Sledge leads OUAZ by scoring 13.3 points and grabbing 9.9 rebounds per game. Her 4.1 offensive rebounds per game rank 26th in the NAIA. Sledge has scored in double figures six times with two 20-point games and six double-doubles.

Marlee Johnson is scoring 10.0 points per game while grabbing 7.1 rebounds per night. She has two 20-point scoring efforts and one double-double. Her 85.2 percent at the foul line is second in the GSAC.

Landyn Lovelady averages 7.2 points per game, and she leads the team with 33 assists.
