OUAZ Clinches Postseason Berth with 3-1 Win at ACU

GLENDALE, Ariz. – The OUAZ women's volleyball team secured its spot in next week's GSAC Women's Volleyball Tournament by recording a 3-1 win over Arizona Christian on Friday night to close the regular season.

With the 25-13, 22-25, 25-20, 25-22 victory, OUAZ completed a season sweep of Arizona Christian (10-16, 7-11 GSAC) and finished the regular season at 15-12 overall and 10-8 in the conference.

While ACU finished Friday's match with a 48-41 advantage in kills, the Spirit used its 11 blocks to force the home team into 31 hitting errors. OUAZ held the Firestorm to .110 hitting while posting a .181 attack percentage themselves. The Spirit also used seven aces, and 11 ACU missed serves to create enough separation for a fourth straight win in the series.

Rylie Henige led the way for OUAZ with 15 kills and a .324 attack percentage. Kaia Nowlin-Chaffino added six kills, with five from Livia De Pra and four apiece for Madison Wampler and Jessica Pearce. De Pra also had four aces, and Pearce recorded six blocks.

The Spirit had 65 digs as a team, with Kenzie Kuxhaus leading the team with 21.

Brittnie Henige had 16 kills to lead ACU.

OUAZ knows it will be the No. 5 seed for next week's conference tournament in Faith Arena. They will open the tournament when they face No. 4 seed Life Pacific on Thursday at 4 p.m.
