OUAZ Struggles at No. 2 Westmont

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – A tough afternoon shooting the ball led to the OUAZ women's basketball team falling at No. 2 Westmont 72-41 on Saturday at Murchison Gymnasium.

OUAZ (4-5, 0-2 GSAC) had just two baskets and four points in the first quarter and then one basket for three points in the third quarter. The Spirit shot 34.9 percent from the field and missed all seven of its attempts from three.

After OUAZ scored the first basket of the game, Westmont (6-0, 2-0) went on an 18-2 run the rest of the opening quarter. The Warriors then closed the third quarter with 15 straight points to lead 55-25 entering the final period.

Tiana Sledge led the Spirit with 16 points and eight rebounds. Tatiana Gary added 10 points.

All 11 players that played for Westmont scored, with Stefanie Berberabe's 15 points leading the team.

The Spirit is off until they host San Diego Christian in Faith Arena on December 1.
