2022 Men's Soccer Notes -- Week 7

The 17th-ranked OUAZ men's soccer team will head west to play a pair of conference games this weekend in California. The Spirit begins the trip at Hope International on Thursday at 7 p.m. at the OC Great Park in Irvine. They will then face Life Pacific at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at the University of La Verne.

OUAZ makes the trip at 7-2-1 overall and riding a three-game winning streak. The Spirit is 2-0-0 in GSAC play and is atop the table as the only team with six points. They have a 3-1-1 record on the road, with 11 goals scored in those contests.

For the season, OUAZ has scored 21 goals for an average of 2.10 goals per game. The team attempts 14.1 shots per game, with 53.9 percent of those shots on goal. They are second in the GSAC and 36th in the NAIA, with 60 corner kicks.

The opposition has scored 10 goals while taking 8.8 shots per game. OUAZ keepers hold a .737 save percentage, and the team is tied for the GSAC lead and sits 23rd in the NAIA with four shutouts.

After scoring a goal against The Master's on Saturday, Tinashe Simbo is at six goals on the season to lead the Spirit and rank second in the GSAC. Simbo also leads the team with four assists, and his 16 points are tops in the conference.

Titouan Desveaux has scored five goals to sit third in the conference. He leads the GSAC and ranks ninth in the NAIA with three game-winning goals. Desveaux has put 15 of his 24 shots on goal.

Jamaine Turner tallied a hat trick in the win over Westmont last Thursday to give him five goals. He sits third in the GSAC with 13 points and fourth with 14 shots on goal.

Tom Cohen has a team-best 29 shots – third in the GSAC – and has tallied three assists and five points.

Adam Salama improved his record to 5-1-1 with his two wins last week. He enters the week leading the GSAC in wins and with a 0.74 goals-against-average. Salama has recorded 16 saves with a .762 save percentage and two shutouts.

Marcos Papakostas has two wins and one shutout while holding a 1.66 GAA and .688 save percentage in four appearances.
