Offense Delivers in Home Win over Firestorm

SURPRISE, Ariz. – In one of its better offensive nights of the season, the OUAZ women's volleyball team defeated Arizona Christian in four sets on Tuesday night at Faith Arena to close the first half of the GSAC season.

OUAZ (10-8, 5-4 GSAC) used 65 kills to secure the 25-23, 27-25, 25-27, 25-21 win. It's the third straight win over Arizona Christian (5-12, 2-7) to match the longest winning streak by either team in the series.

The Spirit totaled at least 14 kills in every set – including 18 in each of the first two sets – to establish a new program record for kills in a four-set match. After hitting .324 and .310 in the first two sets, OUAZ finished at .192 for the match.

OUAZ held the Firestorm to only 45 kills on a .107 attack percentage. The Spirit needed its kills and 89 digs to overcome the 18 blocks and nine service aces by its opponent.

Livia De Pra led three Spirit players in double figures with 19 kills while adding a season-high 18 digs. Rylie Henige hit .220 with 17 kills, and Payton Treadwell added 12 kills on .226 hitting. Logan Kuehn set a career-high with 56 assists, and she added 11 digs.

In slowing the ACU attack, Kenzie Kuxhaus recorded 21 digs for her sixth 20-plus dig effort of the season. Chenay Gladstone notched 16 digs, and Jessica Pearce led the team with five blocks.

Katy Shockey led the Firestorm with 12 kills, eight blocks, and four aces.

OUAZ opens the second half of conference play on Friday at Westmont in Santa Barbara, Calif.
