2022 Men's Soccer Notes -- Week 10

A lot is in play for the OUAZ men's soccer team as they head to Glendale on Friday to play Arizona Christian at 8 p.m. in the final game of the regular season.

OUAZ enters the final game at 10-4-2 overall and 5-2-2 on the road. They are tied for third in the GSAC with a 5-2-1 record and 16 points. The Spirit can finish second with a win on Friday and a loss by Vanguard on Saturday. Any other result can have them finish anywhere from third to fifth.

The top six in the final GSAC standings qualify for the conference tournament, with two top two earning a bye to the final weekend at Menlo on November 10 & 13. The No. 3 and 4 seeds will host quarterfinal games on November 5.

For the season, OUAZ has scored 32 goals for an average of 2.00 goals per game. The team attempts 13.44 shots per game, with 50.7 percent of those shots on goal. They lead the GSAC and rank 21st in the NAIA with 102 corner kicks.

The opposition has scored 19 goals while taking 9.3 shots per game. OUAZ keepers hold a .729 save percentage, and the team is third in the conference with four shutouts.

The Spirit duo of Titouan Desveaux and Jamaine Turner have scored nine goals apiece to tie for the lead in the GSAC. They are also tied with teammate Tinashe Simbo for the conference lead with 21 points.

Desveaux has scored a goal in each of the past four games he has played. He leads the team and sits second in the GSAC with 39 shots while leading the conference with three game-winning goals.

Turner has a pair of multi-goal games and two game-winners. His 22 shots on goal and second-most in the GSAC.

Simbo leads the Spirit with five assists to go with his eight goals. He also has three game-winning goals while taking 37 shots.

Adam Salama leads the GSAC with eight wins and is second with a 1.10 goals-against-average. He had posted 39 saves with a .736 save percentage and two shutouts.
