Women’s Soccer Open Trip with 7-1 Win

ROCKLIN, Calif. – The OUAZ women's soccer team began its road trip to northern California with a 7-1 win over William Jessup on Thursday afternoon at Warrior Field.

OUAZ (10-3-1, 4-1-1 GSAC) has now won at least 10 games in every full season in program history. The result keeps them tied with Westmont atop the GSAC table with 13 points.

Anabella Bara scored the first two goals of the game for the Spirit. Her first came in the 30th minute when she redirected a cross from Haley Howard past the William Jessup (2-7-2, 0-4-1) keeper. Bara completed the brace in the 33rd minute with a stellar strike from the left edge of the box that went inside the opposite post.

OUAZ added goals from Haley Chitwood in the 43rd minute and Mindy Lertzman in the 44th minute to take a 4-0 lead into halftime. It was 5-0 after a Howard goal in the 61st minute before the Warriors notched their lone tally in the 75th minute.

Lertzman posted her second of the day in the 84th minute, and then Heather Walker added the final goal in the final minute.

The Spirit finished with 19 shots and 11 shots on goal. They took eight corners and scored on two of them.

Walker and McKenna Payne had two assists apiece, while Chitwood, Howard, and Cassidi Calzaretta had an assist each. Bara led the team with five shots.

Akela Patterson earned the win in goal with three saves in a scoreless first half. Chloe Gutierrez went the final 45 minutes with one save and one goal allowed.

The Spirit can clinch a bye into the last four of the GSAC Tournament with a win at Menlo on Saturday. That game will begin at 11 a.m. from Atherton, California.
