Spirit Blanked in Final Non-Con Matchup

The OUAZ women's soccer team wrapped up its non-conference portion of the schedule with an important matchup against (21) Embry-Riddle on Friday night. Despite a valiant effort, the Spirit fell 2-0 to the Eagles in Prescott, Ariz.

ERAU struck early in the matchup, as Kylee Bennett scored in the 13'. The Eagles kept the Spirit off the board, and then added a second tally in the 87' thanks to Haley Harris.

The Spirit did have its chances, taking seven shots with all of them hitting the target. The team leader in goals for the Spirit Cassidi Calzaretta led the way for OUAZ in shots with three.

OUAZ's goaltenders kept the Spirit in the game, as Chloe Gutierrez and Cassidy Samuelson split the net time on Friday. Gutierrez made six saves and Samuelson made four as the tandem faces 12 shots on target and 17 in total.

OUAZ will return home to jump into conference play, as they host Menlo College for the first time since 2019. Kickoff from Spirit Field is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
