Minor & Williams Win Titles; Seven Make All-Conference Team at GSAC Championship

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The OUAZ track & field team won three individual titles and had seven athletes make the GSAC All-Conference Team following its performance at the Golden State Athletic Conference Track & Field Championship held on Friday and Saturday at Westmont College.

Jordan Minor led the way for OUAZ with a pair of conference titles. Minor won the Long Jump with a mark of 22-feet, 9-inches (6.93m) and they added the Triple Jump crown by hitting 44-feet, 5.5-inches (13.55m). In winning both events, Minor became the first from the OUAZ men's team to win two events at the same conference championship event.

Michael Williams defended his 2019 title in the High Jump by clearing 6-feet, 4.75-inches (1.95m). He entered as the defending champion in the event as the conference did not hold a championship in 2020. Williams cleared the mark on his second attempt with no other competitor clearing more than 1.90 meters.

Larry Scott made the all-conference team in the 400 Meters by placing second with a time of 50.77 seconds. The time was a personal best for Scott and was over 0.5 seconds faster than the 51.36 he posted in the preliminaries.

Tristan Wheeler finished third in the Long Jump to make his first all-conference team. Wheeler jumped 19-feet, 9.75 inches (6.04m) to give OUAZ two all-conference performers in the event for the second time in program history.

The OUAZ Men's 4x100 Meter Relay team finished second in the race with a time of 43.34 seconds. The four members of the team, Minor, Nathaniel Mitchell, Scott, and Kyle Logan were each rewarded with an all-conference selection.

On the women's side, Landyn Lovelady would secure a pair of all-conference honors. She placed second in the 100 Hurdles with a time of 17.21 seconds. Lovelady then ran 1:07.72 in the 400 Hurdles to record a third-place finish. With those performances, Lovelady became the third athlete from the OUAZ women's program to be a two-time all-conference recipient.

Overall, the OUAZ men scored 72 points to record a fifth-place finish. The Spirit women finished sixth with 41 points. The combined score of 113 points was good for sixth in the combined standings.
