OUAZ Drops Match at William Jessup

ROCKLIN, Calif. – The OUAZ women's volleyball team dropped the first of two matches at William Jessup in four sets on Tuesday night at Warrior Arena.
 
After winning the first set, OUAZ (7-5, 5-2 GSAC) would lose the next three and fall 25-16, 23-25, 19-25, 17-25.
 
William Jessup (3-6, 1-4) did a nice job of slowing the Spirit offense and limiting them to just 43 kills on .150 hitting. The Warriors would finish with 48 kills while hitting .204. That allowed the home team to overcome the 12 OUAZ service aces and 68-58 dig advantage.
 
Kate Pestova recorded a double-double of 12 kills and 11 digs for OUAZ. She hit .229 while adding a pair of aces and one block. Izze Gibbs had nine kills and Brooklyn Rainer finished with seven.
 
Avie Butcko tallied three of the Spirit aces and her and Rainer recorded four blocks apiece. Valentina Trovato had 18 digs and Cristal Carrizoza posted 19 assists and three aces.
 
The Warriors got 18 kills from Mary Padilla.
 
OUAZ and William Jessup will complete the two-match series on Wednesday at 2 p.m. (AZ).
