Jaguars Shutout Spirit

VICTORIA, Texas – The OUAZ baseball team continued its road trip in Texas with a 1-0 loss at Houston-Victoria on Monday afternoon at Riverside Stadium.

OUAZ (8-11) finished with six hits but had just one after the fourth inning. The Spirit stranded seven runners on base and were shutout for the second time this season.

Tanner Fallon (0-2) pitched well enough for the Spirit to win. He allowed just one run on five hits with seven strikeouts in 7.2 innings of work.

Houston-Victoria (2-3) scored the game's only run in the sixth inning with a couple of singles and a stolen base. The Spirit had a runner on third with two outs in the seventh, but Ben Lewis flew to left to end the threat.

Jared Crockett and Nathan Tarver each had two hits in the game for OUAZ.

The Spirit will open a three-game series at Jarvis Christian on Tuesday with a doubleheader at 11 a.m. (AZ) on Hawkins, Texas.
