Road Trip Opens with Tough Loss at OLLU

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – In a result that can only be summed up as baseball, the OUAZ baseball team dropped the opener of a four-game series at Our Lady of the Lake 2-1 in 12 innings on Thursday at the Missions Baseball Academy.

OUAZ (7-8) allowed just two hits in the game, and none until the seventh inning, but couldn't generate any offense of their own. The Spirit had just five hits and scored its only run on a ground out from Kobie Tinsley in third inning.

Anthony Quattrocchi dominated on the mound allowing just one hit in seven innings and retiring 18 straight at one point. That hit didn't come until there was two outs in the seventh inning. He walked two and struck out six and was charged with one unearned run allowed.

Tanner Fallon threw two scoreless innings without allowing a hit. Myles White (0-1) suffered the loss despite allowing just one hit in 2.2 innings.

"I was proud of the way we pitched tonight," OUAZ head coach Tim Montez said of the three that took the hill tonight. "This might have been the best pitching performance in the program's history, but baseball is an unforgiving game and we had several opportunities to execute and we didn't capitalize."

OLLU (5-7) got a leadoff single in the bottom of the 12th inning and used a sacrifice and a pair of walks – one intentional – to setup a sacrifice fly from Robert Lopez to score the winning run.

Jared Crockett had two of the team's hits to extend his hitting streak to 11 games. Deon Reese and Elijah Celaya each had a double.

The two teams will play a doubleheader on Friday with game one starting at noon (AZ).
