Spirit Extend GSAC Lead with Doubleheader Sweep

WADDELL, Ariz. – Coming off just the second conference series win in program history last weekend, the OUAZ baseball team continued that success by sweeping a doubleheader at Arizona Christian to begin this weekend's series. OUAZ won the first game, 12-9, before claiming the second, 10-4.

It was the offense that carried the load in the opener with 17 hits and eight players recording a multi-hit game. Ben Lewis delivered three hits – including a pair of doubles – and two RBI. Adrian Salazar, Elijah Celaya, and Jordan Hollins each drive in two runs on their two hits.

Tanner Fallon (2-2) picked up the win after allowing six runs on nine hits on five innings. Robert Jesionowski worked two scoreless innings. Myles White notched his third save with a perfect ninth inning.

While they only tallied nine hits in the second game, the Spirit had two doubles and three triples in the win. Deon Reese went 4 for 4 with a double and a triple. Brian Camacho and Adrian Salazar had two RBIs apiece.

Gage Johnson (6-0) threw his third complete game of the season allowing four runs (two earned) on eight hits with six strikeouts. His six straight decisions won is the longest such streak in program history.

The two wins move the Spirit above .500 for the first time this season at 15-14. They are now 5-1 in GSAC games to open a three-game lead in the East Division.
