Game Recap: Men's Volleyball |

12th-Ranked Spirit Match Record with Seventh Straight Win

GLENDALE, Ariz. – It wasn't their best performance of the season, but the 12th-ranked OUAZ men's volleyball team picked up a 3-1 win at Arizona Christian on Wednesday night to move one step closer to clinching a spot in the GSAC Championship match.

After dropping the first set, OUAZ (9-3, 5-0 GSAC) came back for an 18-25, 25-20, 25-17, 30-28 win. The victory ties the program record for consecutive wins at seven and improves the Spirit to 8-0 all-time against Arizona Christian (0-5, 0-5).

In the end, OUAZ held a 47-38 advantage in kills while hitting .225 against the .181 of the Firestorm. Both teams struggled in the third set as they combined for only 10 kills and each side hit negative in the frame. The match featured 29 ties and nine lead changes.

Emery Outin and Jordan Moses had 16 kills apiece to lead the Spirit. Outin's total was a season-high and came on .609 hitting. He also added seven digs and two blocks. Moses would add three digs, three blocks, and two service aces.

Colin Donisthorpe provided the third option the team needed with seven kills on .600 hitting. He also posted five blocks to lead the team. The OUAZ all-time leader in blocks moved within nine of 150 for his career.

Andrew de'Leon distributed 42 assists and Tatum Gray had a team-leading eight digs.

ACU got nine kills from three different players in defeat.

OUAZ can set the program record for consecutive wins – and clinch that spot in the conference final – on Saturday when they host The Master's in Faith Arena at 1 p.m. Tickets for that match are available to the OUAZ campus and guests of the OUAZ team now with an access code. They open to the general public on Thursday at 1 p.m.
