No. 11 Spirit Down Mustangs in Home Opener

SURPRISE, Ariz. – Playing a match in Faith Arena for the first time in 344 days, the OUAZ men's volleyball team battled through a contested three sets before winning comfortably in the fourth for a 3-1 win over The Master's.
 
After watching the visitors score the final four points of the first set, OUAZ (6-3, 2-0 GSAC) would bounce back to win the match 23-25, 27-25, 25-21, 25-13. OUAZ flipped the momentum late in the third set when they rallied from a 19-15 deficit to win the set with 10 of the final 12 points. They then raced out to a 10-3 lead in the fourth before cruising to the win in the first of four meetings with TMU this season.
 
The Spirit held a slim 45-44 edge in kills despite recording only seven kills in the opening set. They also hit .175 while The Master's (1-3, 1-1) finished at .174 as OUAZ tallied 45 digs and 10 blocks. The Spirit also took advantage of 22 service errors from the Mustangs.
 
Jordan Moses finished with a match-high 16 kills while adding five digs and four blocks. Emery Outin added 11 kills and four service aces. Colin Donisthorpe contributed six kills on .500 hitting and four blocks. Braiden Franco provided a spark with six kills and nine digs.
 
Andrew de'Leon had a double-double with 34 assists and 10 digs while Tatum Gray got 14 digs.
 
TMU was led by 15 kills from Ben Herb.
 
Next up for the Spirit is a home match against Arizona Christian on Wednesday at 6 p.m. in Faith Arena.
