No. 11 Spirit Open GSAC Play with 3-1 Win at ACU

GLENDALE, Ariz. – The run of success over its crosstown rivals continued on Thursday night as the 11th-ranked OUAZ men's volleyball team opened Golden State Athletic Conference play with a 3-1 win over Arizona Christian.
 
OUAZ (5-3, 1-0 GSAC) improved to 6-0 all-time against Arizona Christian (0-1, 0-1) with the 25-18, 25-22, 18-25, 25-19 victory. This is the second straight season the Spirit has open conference play with a win at ACU.
 
It wasn't a huge offensive night for the Spirit as they racked up just 39 kills and never had more than 11 in a set. After opening with a .304 attack percentage in the first set, OUAZ cooled off to end the night hitting .194.
 
The Spirit held off the 41 kills and .183 hitting of the Firestorm by totaling 11 blocks and adding 32 digs.
 
Jordan Moses provided most of the Spirit offense with 17 kills on .387 hitting. He added six digs and three blocks to his fourth double-digit kill effort of the season.
 
Emery Outin and Quaid King finished with seven and six kills respectively. King added a team-best two service aces. Tatum Gray picked up 10 digs while Andrew de'Leon distributed 29 assists with five blocks. Conner Duyck led the team with six blocks.
 
Wesley Hunter led ACU with 13 kills.
 
OUAZ continues GSAC play on Saturday when they host The Master's at noon in the home opener at Faith Arena.
