Spirit Get Four in Double Figures in Loss to ACU

SURPRISE, Ariz. – The OUAZ women's basketball team had one of its better shooting nights of the season, but the Spirit couldn't get enough stops in a 101-71 loss to Arizona Christian on Thursday night at Faith Arena.

OUAZ (1-9, 0-5 GSAC) shot 37.1 percent from the field and made a season-high 10 threes in defeat. Arizona Christian (7-4, 2-3) shot 50 percent and had a 44-22 edge in paint points.

Virginia Edmondson led four Spirit players in double figures with 14 points. She hit 3 of 7 from beyond the arc while also grabbing seven rebounds and posting seven assists. Marlee Johnson added 12 points, with Sedona Anderson and Cierra Kiser finishing with 11 points apiece.

OUAZ will play two games next week before heading into the Christmas break. The first is on Tuesday at 7 p.m. against Benedictine Mesa in Faith Arena.
