Women's Basketball Notes -- Week 6

On Thursday, the OUAZ women's basketball team will continue its seven-game homestand when they host Arizona Christian in the final Golden State Athletic Conference game of 2021. Tipoff at Faith Arena is at 5 p.m.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
OUAZ enters the game at 1-8 on the season and 0-4 in conference play. The Spirit will be looking to snap a five-game losing streak. They have a 1-3 record at home.

The Spirit averages 49.8 points per game while shooting 29.1 percent from the field. They make 24.6 percent from beyond the arc, averaging 3.9 threes per contest. The team is second GSAC in free throws made (13.2) and attempted (21.3) per game while shooting 62.0 percent at the stripe.

The Spirit collects 40.1 rebounds per game and averages 10.0 assists and 25.7 turnovers.

Defensively, OUAZ is allowing 75.9 points per game, with the opposition shooting 41.9 percent from the field and 31.1 percent from three. The Spirit block 3.1 shots per game and record 8.6 steals while forcing 18.8 turnovers per outing.

ABOUT THE SPIRIT
Makayla Holthaus currently leads the Spirit with 91 points for an average of 10.1 points per game. She has scored in double figures four times and had a career-high 21 points against The Master's on December 2. Holthaus is shooting 41.7 percent from the field and grabs 3.7 rebounds per game.

Sedona Anderson provides the Spirit a spark off the bench where she averages 8.3 points per game. Anderson leads the team with 14 made threes, and she is shooting 34.1 percent from beyond the arc. She mas made multiple threes in a game five times, including four makes from deep against The Master's

Elizabeth Ortwine is third on the team with 52 points – 5.8 per game – with a pair of double-digit scoring efforts. She has hit four times from deep while grabbing 30 rebounds. Ortwine has added nine assists, five steals, and three blocked shots.

Marlee Johnson averages 6.4 points per game and leads the Spirit by grabbing 6.0 rebounds and recording 1.6 assists per game. Johnson has a pair of double-digit scoring nights and had 20 points in the win over SAGU on November 9.

Cierra Kiser averages 5.7 points and 4.8 rebounds per game. She has led the team in rebounds three times and had a career-high 10 boards against The Master's on December 2.

ABOUT ARIZONA CHRISTIAN
Arizona Christian will enter Thursday at 6-4 overall and 1-3 in the GSAC. This season, the Firestorm are 3-1 on the road and are coming off a 75-62 win over Park Gilbert on Tuesday.

ACU is scoring 72.3 points per game, and they average 8.7 made threes per game. Alyssa Alvarez leads the Firestorm by scoring 17.8 points per game, where she ranks fourth in the GSAC.
